Had a very wholesome and filling Breakfast. In a re-purposed ponderosa restaurant staff (only 2 including the cook) did a wonderful job keeping the orders flowing and hot. If I lived locally I would be visiting more often.

Good food, if you can get seated at one of the many empty tables, if you can get a server to come to your table. If you don't mind waiting for the food that you order from the menu. I didn't order the buffet because it didn't look very appetizing. The fake plants hanging everywhere are dust-catchers and they obviously were very dirty. The table also needed a good scrubbing. The service in this place completely breaks down during a rush.

My boyfriend suggested trying this new location when our favorite breakfast spot was spilling out customers into the parking lot. Jackie's is a grease spoon with the classic middle-aged tired waitress to boot. The interior was spacious and probably very clean, but I somehow felt dirty dining there... My boyfriend opted for the breakfast buffet - which is rarely a good choice at any restaurant, IMO. After trying several items, he regretted his decision. The buffet offers a lot of variety, but most of the items are on the cool side and turned cold very quickly on his plate. He thought the sausage was noticeably fatty and a little strange tasting, and the buttermilk pancakes were dense and flavorless. The scrambled eggs, the only egg choice on the buffet, were greasy and rubbery. Normally my boyfriend scarfs down two full plates on a buffet, but he left Jackie's having only eaten about half a plate. I felt bad! I had some sort of skillet dish which had scrambled eggs, hashbrowns (I always tell the waitress to make mine extra-extra-crispy), bacon, and cheese. I enjoyed my meal, and the hashbrowns were some of the better crispier ones I've had in Lansing. It wouldn't keep me coming back to Jackie's though, because the cheese tasted processed and again the eggs were a little too greasy for my taste, and I wish that the concoction was actually served on a skillet. What WOULD have me return to Jackie's again, and allowed for a two-star rating, is their unbelievably extensive pancake menu. They seem to have every type of pancake topping combo! I'd go back to try the banana-chocolate chip pancakes if I have a sweettooth in the morning one of these days. But if those pancakes fail, I probably wouldn't have any reason to go back to Jackie's

Went here this morning with an old friend. Terrible! The staff were curt, rude, and clearly didn't want to be there. My pancakes - which are apparently this restaurant's "thing" because they have about 40 options - we're some the the worse I have ever had at a restaurant. They were pasty, like the batter was old or didn't have enough baking powder in it. My friend's meat was pulled off of the buffet and cold. I would not recommend coming to this restaurant, ever.

The former Ponderosa restaurant was clean, fresh and friendly. We opted for the buffet, which had plenty of fresh food. The tomato basil soup was excellent, and we got a sirloin for only $1.00 more. This place is a great secret.
